Using 3D Printing Technology to Create Customizable Insoles
My idea is to create a leg brace that could have different components swapped out. Feet grow faster than legs; therefore, being able to keep certain parts (like the brace itself) and change others (like the insole) could be cost-saving. After conducting my own research, I presented my idea to post doctoral fellow Cameron Morely from the University of California, Berkeley who I collaborated with to put my plan into action. I first created 3D scanned STL files of different children’s feet, which I then used to print in a protolab at my high school.
